Choosing a New Coffee Table
We recently decorated our living room and needed a few pieces of furniture in order to finish the improvements. In particular, we found that we needed a new coffee table. We tend to use such tables as a centrepiece and somewhere to store newspapers, magazines and books.
It seemed like choosing a new coffee table would be a relatively easy task. After all, such a table represents a relatively small piece of furniture. They tend to be considerably less expensive than dining tables, for example.
Yet, the whole process seemed to take an inordinate amount of time. Why was this? One reason was because there was an enormous range of products from which to choose. The starters, we found that we needed to make a decision on the material that the table would be constructed from.
It is possible to buy coffee tables that are made from a combination of metal and glass. These can certainly looks stylish, but they wouldn’t have been appropriate in our home. We decided that we really needed to opt for a table made largely from wood.
But this decision barely helped us to narrow down the choices available. That’s because you can buy furniture that is made from a wide variety of Woods. Some are darker than others. Some are likely to be damaged more easily. Some are obviously more expensive than the alternatives available.
In the end, we opted for a fine table. Although pine is not as strong as oak, we felt that it offered good value for money. We chose a table that was made from 100% solid pine wood. There were cheaper alternatives available, but some simply didn’t seem as though they were built to last.
Having looked in numerous showrooms, we eventually decided to buy online. This was because many of the cheapest deals were available from Internet retailers.
