Key Pieces Of Reidel Wine Glasses

June 1st, 2010

Does ordering wine frighten or perhaps confuse you? It may well if you don’t really buy or consume wine beverages very often and that’s okay, there’s a lot of mystery and also occasionally snobbery related to wine.

However, wine is the ideal complement for some dishes and periodically you’ll probably decide to choose a wine beverage to serve in your own home or order in a restaurant. If you wish to know about wines, try them to find out what you prefer and what you do not prefer in wines.

So why White Or Red?

Wine beverages vary in taste and tannin content (pucker) as well as the way they strike the palate. The white with perch or red with meat is often a principle regarding pairing wines with foods that you could have heard.

It’s a general principle based on the notion that red wines often have more taste and whites are frequently lighter and the concept is red wine beverages won’t be overpowered by the steak and white wine beverages tend to be more subtle thus suit the subtly flavored meals like fish. On the other hand, rules are made to be broken. Pair food and wine in line with your tastes instead.

A delicate red wine beverage can be overwhelmed by a spicy dish regardless of the type of the meat. If perhaps it doesn’t taste good to you personally, then don’t pair it no matter how often you have heard the rule. Try out different types of wines with your food.

Don’t be afraid to try a mild white wine beverage with your steak: did it hold up or did the taste get over powered? Try a light red wine with pike and you’ll know from your taste buds if the guideline for that wine beverage has to be broken.

Note if you enjoy a sweet taste in your wines or perhaps a dry wine beverage (less sweet). Notice how they interact with what you eat. When you do not like the combination or the flavor of the wine it won’t make any difference exactly what the year was or how expensive the bottle of wine it isn’t a ideal choice or a great pair.

It Was a Very Good Year for Wines

What impact can a year make? Wines produced in a single region might be exceptional one year but another year they are just lackluster thanks to not enough rain, or excess rain and several other factors that have an effect on the grapes.

When you are still learning about wines, you may not know which years tend to be good wines and which wines are less enjoyable. This requires practice. A proven way could be to ask the wine retailer what they would recommend. A single bottle of Cabernet made by a vineyard in one year may perhaps be magnificent in your own estimation and dismal in the view of other people.

Asking a lot of questions is good but depending on the feedback of other people totally isn’t good. If you do not enjoy it, don’t pick it no matter how expensive it is or how much the wine vendor brags over it.

At first, you might count purely on suggestions from other people to help you choose. However, soon enough you will find wine beverages and wine accessories that appeal to you and others that don’t. Never slavishly follow rules or drink wines you don’t like because of the price. Take pleasure in it and soon you’ll be ordering with confidence.

How Many Wine Racks Can You Fit In Your Cellar?

February 23rd, 2010

A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to enjoy a bit of a boozy weekend in Dublin. My other half had been invited over by one of the suppliers his firm does business with.  Everything was paid for and all we had to do was get ourselves to the airport for our flight to Dublin.

We were met at the airport by our host and he swiftly whisked us off to his house so we could unpack.  You should have seen my face when I saw the size of his house – it was massive.  The house had everything you have always dreamed of – a tennis court, an indoor swimming pool and sauna a gym and a home cinema.

Waiting for us in his kitchen was some beautiful Australian wine, nicely chilled in a wine cooler and bottle openers all ready to go.

Our host was a real wine buff and has his own wine rack down in his cellar. He imports a lot of wine from Australia and was explaining that the cellar has to be kept at just the right temperature, which is quite difficult at times.  He was saying that if the conditions aren’t right, then lots of problems can occur.  One example he was telling us about was if the humidity is too high then this will make the corks dry out and this in turn allows air to get into the bottle and oxidise the wine, which would of course be disastrous.

After we had finished our drinks we were off for a night in the Temple Bar area. We had a brilliant night and the Irish are so friendly.  Nothing was too much trouble and they are such lovely people.  My husband was thoroughly enjoying himself knocking back pint after pint of Guinness.  Mind you I think the next morning he wished he hadn’t drunk quite so much.

We had a brilliant weekend and it is certainly something I would love to do again.  Next time though maybe we might need to lay off the alcohol just a little bit!
